 1 General
1.1            Designation of type and name
GW5-33KV/72.5KV/132KV type outdoor tripahse high-voltage ,horizon-rotating AC disconnect switch with 2 poles and a horizontal break. (following we called it GW5 Disconnect switch in short)
1.2  GW5 Serial disconnectors match GB1985-2004 High-voltage alternating current disconnectors and earth switches,it satisfy IEC129(1984) High-voltage alternating current disconnectors and earthing switches,and IEC694(1980) ,High-voltage switchgear and controlgear.
1.3  Product use
This product is used to cut off or connect a circuit without any load and to cut off high-voltage circuit with high-voltage electric device to be overhauled such as high-voltage bus, circuit breaker and so on.
1.4  Product characteristics
GW5 Serial Disconnect switch are researched and developed by ourselves in the foundation of producing GW5 for 20 years.  It has the following characteristics:
a.   They have plentiful models and high technical parameters and can applied widely. In addition, they are suitable for high position installation. The main knife not only match manual device (CS17 series), but also match electric device(CJ6).
b.  New contact fingers(U-shape)and bending-formed contactors are adopted, for contact finger and socket, the new current structure and the insulator contact finger spring can supply enough capacity of current.
c.  Full seal structure and oilless bearing are adopted and the transmission shaft , pin are made of stainless .All steel parts and standard parts are ZINC-plated. Seal structure and tinning braided strap can give higher antirust ability to connection socket ,main knife switch conductive tube and earth knife switch tube.
d. The simple dependable mechanical moving way was adopted, the main knife switch increased limited switchin and switchoff to increase the operating credibility of product.
e.   New improved CS171V manual structure gives a higher capability in dust palliative, Watertightness and antirust.
f. Full ZINC-plated steel foundation racks and vertical & level transmission levers are available for users to choose.
1.5  The product usage environment condition
a.       The altitude does not exceed 2000 meters;
b.       The environmental climate is between -50ºC and +50ºC;
c.       The wind press should not be higher 700pa;
d.       The earthquake intensity can not be over 9 degrees;
e.       The thickness of ice should not be exceed 20mm;
f.        Pollution degree of environment should be in , , degree.
g.        The install place should have no easy combustible and explode easily dangerous, the chemistry decay and violent vibration.

3. Structure of product
    GW5 Disconnect switch consists of 3 single- pole, operating device and transfer section. Each single-pole is of a  "V" structure which consists of bottom ,bearing seat, support insulator, connector, left & right contactor , earthing static contactor and earth knife switch.
For this disconnect switch, the main knife can not only match CS17 series manual operating device, but also match CJ6G electric operating device.  Earth knife matches CS17 series manual operating device . CS17 series manual operating device is equipped with F9 type auxiliary switch or vacuum auxiliary switch .When manual operating device attach electromagnetic lock, valid electric chain lock will be effected among disconnect switch, earth switch and circuit breaker to avoid mistake operating.
4. Operating principle
  4.1 operating principle for main knife switch
   Operating device of GW5 disconnect switch is connected to the oscillating arm through a vertical transfer lever and connector. Synchronous action of 3-pole can be effected through oscillating arm pulling the 3 separate pole.
 When the device acting, a support insulator is driven to rotate ;another support insulator is driven to rotate through a lever in bottom shelf (leftright contactors are separately fixed on 2 support insulators). Then action of switchin and switchoff of the 2contactors can be effected.
  4.2 Operating principle of earth knife switch
    The 3-pole earth knife are connected by 3-pole transfer lever. Principle axle of operating device is connected to the 3-pole transfer lever through vertical transfer lever ,contactor and a set of space 4-links bar. Switch in and switch off of earth knife can be effected through vertical transfer lever and space 4-links bar when the device acting.
  4.3 Auxiliary switch in operating device is connected to principle axle of device. When action (switch in or switch off), related contact will be opened or closed, Then give signals of switch in or switch off.
 4.4 Mechanical lock-out of main earth knives
   When the main knife and the earth knife both attach manual operating device, Lock-out between disconnect switch and earth switch is effected through interlock board of the device. When closed the disconnect knife, the earth knife can not be closed ;When earth knife is closed, don't close the disconnect switch.   
5. INSTALLATION AND DEBUGGING
 5.1 Opening package and check
   Check if quantity of package is right according to packing list before opening package. Contact our company in time if there is anything improper.
   When opening package, check all parts carefully according to packing list. If there is anything wrong, please contact our company , too.
5.3 Checking after installation and debugging
a. switch position for main knife and earth knife should be right
b. Insulator distance of breaks should conform to request in graph 2
c. 3-pole synchronism of main knife should conform to request in graph 2
d. Resistance of main knife circuit should conform to request in graph 2
e. Check if auxiliary switches properly when device at closed position, contact (of auxiliary switch) 1-3, 5-7, 9-11,  ETC,  are normally open contacts; 2-4, 6-8, 10-12,  ETC, are normally closed contacts.
f. When main knives is equipped with electric device ,normal action (open and closed)should be effected at 85% and 110% rated voltage
g. Mechanical lock-out of main knife and earth knife should be right
5.4  Our company can provide full equipped joints and lever that don not need welding.
6. WORKING DIRECTIONS
 6.1 In general cases, this is disconnect switch should be operated when all load of circuit is removed (circuit breaker in open position)
 6.2. When main knife is closed, earth knife can not be closed ;When earth knife is closed ,main knife can not be closed.

7. MAINTAINCE AND REPAIR
  When maintaining or repairing this disconnect switch ,pay attention to :
a. Check if ceramic parts of disconnect switch are damaged, there is any loose at glue position , there is any loose and rusty at all fastening position
b. Measure resistance of circuit and check if there is a big change of it .Check if contacts can contact well.
c.      Check if position of all electric connectors and auxiliary switch is right.
d.   Check if all rotation parts can rotate smoothly. There must not be rustness and jamming.
e.   Check if there is any change of signal of all connectors in second circuit.
f.   If any abnormal happens in operating, manage to solve it and touch the producer as soon as possible.
8. STORAGE
  If not in use in a long time, place it in ventilated and dry place with a 10-cm -high elevation.
